ASK OUR TEAM ABOUT OUR COMFORT MENU
We offer several complimentary amenities to make your visit the most comfortable dental experience possible.
Please let us know if you would like any of the above amenities or if there is anything else we can provide for your comfort while in our office
ORAL SEDATION
Get relief from dental anxiety before and during your visit with anti-anxiety medication. We will prescribe medication that you need to take about an hour before your visit. This medication will make you feel drowsy and relaxed, but you will still be awake.
NITROUS OXIDE
Also known as laughing gas', this form of sedation helps to make you feel euphoric and relaxed during treatment. We place a mask over your nose and you inhale a harmless, odorless gas for a few minutes. We can control the depth of sedation by increasing or decreasing the amount of gas.
LOCAL ANESTHETIC
Local anesthesia will be used to numb the affected area. This is a simple and effective way to numb an entire quadrant with minimal pain, discomfort, and side effects.
PERSONALIZED CARE FOR EXCEPTIONAL RESULTS
Our team of specialists use a personalized approach to ensure all patients get the treatment they need while reducing the need for re-treatment. We believe in getting things right the first time, so we take extra steps to ensure a positive outcome.
Frequently Asked Questions About Sedation
Will I need someone to drive me home after sedation?
If you choose oral sedation, yes. The medication is designed to make you drowsy and relaxed, so it is not safe to drive yourself home afterward. Please arrange for a friend or family member to bring you to your appointment and take you home. Nitrous oxide and local anesthesia wear off quickly, so most patients are able to drive themselves after these options.
Is sedation safe for root canal therapy?
Yes. Sedation is a routine part of many endodontic procedures, and our team carefully reviews your health history before recommending any option. At Pinellas Endodontics St. Petersburg, patient safety is always our top priority, and Dr. Hedrick and our team monitor you closely throughout treatment to make sure you stay comfortable and secure.
Will my insurance cover sedation options?
Coverage varies depending on your provider and plan. Our front desk team is happy to help verify your benefits ahead of time so there are no surprises. Just give us a call and we can walk you through what your specific plan covers.
How do I know which sedation option is right for me?
